Inspiration
Jackie was greatly inspired by her dad, Laurie Buxton, who was also an outstanding Maths teacher. He worked in the profession as a teacher and inspector for the ILEA for over 30 years. He also wrote many articles and books about maths with a focus on getting people interested in maths and overcoming fears of the subject. His book 'Do you panic about maths?' (Heinemann Educational Books, 1981) was based on research for his doctorate, and with typical humour he boasted that he was the only person to produce the book before the thesis.
